This is a curved rectangular ironstone platter from Johnson Brothers England, and the back stamp indicates it is from the 1870 to 1890 period. The foliage and flowers are consistent with the Aesthetic Period, or Arts and Crafts era. The color of the transferware is a blue/gray, and there are minor and small spots of wear to the transferware as well as one small chip and hairline crack (pictured). This impressively sized platter measures about 12 1/8" by 8 3/8" and the rim is about 1 1/8" high. It weighs an impressive 1 1/2 pounds. In good condition.
