Biography: CORA LAVILLA “LEE” BRIDGER BUTLER (July 28, 1886 – October 9, 1974)

Landscape and still life painter in oil, watercolor and pastel. She is best remembered, along with Mrs. Allen Rendall, as a “torch bearer” and ceaseless proponent for art in early twentieth century Shreveport, Louisiana.
She was born in Columbia, Caldwell Parish, Louisiana, the daughter of Sarah Frances Stuart (1850 – 1912) and Robert Dixon Bridger Sr. (1835 – 1890). Her father was a confederate civil war veteran, prominent attorney, parish and attorney Parish .
