Join Kumi Construction Management Corporation as an Electrical Inspector in the District of Columbia Metropolitan Area and contribute to the successful delivery of high-quality construction projects. This role involves confirming compliance with project design and specifications, industry standards for electrical systems. You will play a critical role in maintaining the integrity and functionality of electrical installations while collaborating with a team of professionals dedicated to excellence.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
• Monitor the installation of wiring, conduits, panels, lighting, and power systems to confirm proper execution
• Oversee testing, commissioning, and energization of electrical systems
• Conduct detailed inspections of electrical installations, materials, and equipment for adherence to contract specifications, codes, and safety standards
• Coordinate with other inspectors and disciplines to resolve electrical system integration issues
• Review contractor shop drawings and submittals to confirm alignment with project specifications
• Identify, document and report non-conformances, coordinating with contractors and engineers to implement corrective actions
• Conduct labor interviews to verify proper worker classification and wage compliance
• Immediately notify contractors and relevant officials of any potentially life-threatening safety conditions
• Maintain detailed inspection reports, logs, and records for quality assurance and compliance tracking
• Oversee corrective actions for unacceptable construction work and support final inspections, punch lists, and project closeouts
• Witness and document critical tests, such as pressure tests, leak tests, and system start-ups
• Verify the quality of materials, workmanship, and equipment installations to confirm adherence to project specifications
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
• HS + 8 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
• Experience with local codes
• Experience with construction methods and techniques
Preferred Requirements:
• BA/BS in Construction, Electrical engineering or equivalent certification. Waived for eight (8) years of similar inspection role
• OSHA 10-hour training certification
• Certified Construction Quality Manager for Contractors (CQM-C) preferred
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Software
• Experience working with federal Project Management Systems
