I am a deaf doctoral student at Saybrook University in California. I am conducting a research study on the experiences of aging that people with early-onset impairments have. The study explores the meanings that disabled people make out of their lives as they age. I am completing this research as part of my doctoral degree. The research will involve individual interviews and a focus group, which is a small group discussion, and it will help gain knowledge about disability and aging.
If you have been disabled since birth, or before the age of three, are 55 years of age or older, able to communicate, read, and write in English, able to sign your own consent form, you live in the United States, AND you are interested in participating in this study, please contact Holly at 206-409-3512 or reply to this posting, to schedule a time to be interviewed. You will complete a 60-minute interview and two hours of discussion with a small group of others, via Zoom video. For the focus group, there will be a live captioner, which is a person who will transcribe what is said in the focus group. Captioning will also be provided for the individual interview upon request. You will also receive a $50 Amazon gift card for participating in the interview, and another $50 gift card for participating in the focus group. Thank you.
