This is a strong and solid book case make from real wood (not particle board, not a veneer). The bookshelf has 5 shelves (including the base level) - each shelf is about 10.5 inches deep, 33.5" wide, and 10" high (the top and bottom shelves are a bit higher). The total footprint of the bookcase is a bit bigger at 36 x 61 x 12. The bookcase was in our son's room so there is some normal wear and tear (see photos) on the shelves from kids books and toys but you won't see those if covered by books.
