Public Interest Law Firm Seeks Motivated Paralegal (Washington, DC)

18th near L Street

(google map)

compensation: $45,000 to $55,000
employment type: full-time

Our firm: We are a well-respected public interest law firm, with offices in Washington, D.C. and California. We represent consumers fighting against corporate fraud, whistleblowers exposing corruption, and others who are seeking justice against powerful interests. In addition to interesting and high-profile work, our firm strives for a friendly, congenial and respectful work environment where you can be yourself while doing challenging work.

The job: Paralegals at our firm work closely with the firm's attorneys on all aspects of litigation. They not only keep us organized, but they assist with court filings, preparation for hearings and depositions, vetting potential new cases, and interfacing with our clients. This is a great experience for someone who is considering law school down the road and wants exposure to an exciting legal environment. Our paralegals have gone on to attend some of the best law schools in the country, including Columbia, NYU, UVA, and Georgetown. This is also a great opportunity for someone interested in pursuing a long-term career as a paralegal. The best paralegals are people who are extremely well-organized, detail-oriented, and who have good writing and people skills.

The pay and other benefits: We offer an extremely competitive package of salary, bonuses, and benefits. Depending on your level of prior experience, the base salary range is from $45,000 to $55,000. Paralegals are also eligible for overtime pay and year-end bonuses, which can add substantially to the base salary. Our firm offers health insurance, three weeks of paid vacation per year, and we have a 401k plan for employees who have been with us at least one full year.

To apply: We must receive both a resume and a college transcript (unofficial is fine at the application stage); we also invite you to send a writing sample and references, although these are not mandatory. You must have at least a bachelor's degree to be considered.

The deadline to apply for this job is February 14, 2020, but you are encouraged to apply earlier as we will consider application and conduct interviews on a rolling basis, and will stop once we find a strong candidate.
