I am a public school teacher with over 15 years experience teaching and mentoring students through the college application process. I have worked with students from all backgrounds at my school and through referrals. Many of the students I have helped are the first in their families to attend college. My mentees have been accepted to all 8 Ivy League schools, Stanford, Duke, the University of Chicago, Notre Dame, Johns Hopkins, UC Berkeley, Michigan, UVA, Williams, Bowdoin, and countless other competitive private, public, and liberal arts colleges. Every year, several of the students I work with gain acceptance to Georgetown (my alma mater), George Washington, and American University. I take the time to get to know my mentees on a personal level and learn about their backgrounds, passions, and aspirations. I am particularly adept at helping students craft compelling personal statements through unique (i.e. letters, prose poetry, 2nd person stories, etc.) as well as traditional structures. I also take the time to ensure that all of the additional components of the application (i.e. activities, resume, recommendations, short answers, portfolio submissions, etc.) work together to present a unified and compelling case for why the student stands out. I am available in person or virtually and can customize our sessions to meet any specific needs of the student. I am happy to answer any questions and/or provide my resume/references via email.
