What a beauty! This is a 2000 Gibson Custom Shop Historic 1959 Reissue with a mega quilt top from Wildwood Guitars. This good wood era Gibson is essentially unplayed over its 25 years! Truly new old stock in a sense.
This was bought from Wildwood Guitars. In 2000, they did a run of 50 quilt top special edition '59 Reissues that originally sold out at $5,500 in 2000. I have confirmed with Gibson that this guitar was sold to Wildwood Guitars, and was an early 2000 production in heritage cherry sunburst.
Wildwood is not only known for getting amazing tops, but also choice body wood, which definitely is reflected here - it weighs exactly 8lbs on my bathroom scale. Finding a Les Paul '59 Reissue at right at 8lbs is amazing. This is resonates for days!
All original, with the original black historic reissue case, original hang tags, and original still sealed switch tip. Because of how beautiful this top is, it was never drilled for a pick guard by Gibson, but has a pick guard and all mounting hardware in the case as well. The 2000 reissues did not yet come with the big sheet COA. I believe this still has the original '57 classic pickups, the soldering looks untouched, along with the orange drop capacitors.
Just got digital calipers, so I am not an expert, but got .91-.92 on the 1st fret, and .99 on the 12th. I think that is right at the ballpark by feel as well. But again, not an expert in the use of calipers.
I cannot find any serious dings, scratches, or issues anywhere on the guitar. There is binding bleed as is common with reissues. There is some tarnishing on the pickups and hardware, particularly the bridge pickup, but I am sure someone can clean that off. The binding has also begun to yellow, so it is a very nice cream color.
Will only consider trades drastically in my favor. Priced to move. Text or email - 561-two1two-2eight24
