One monitor (S/N AG15361) functions perfectly (Very Good Condition category). The other (S/N AG15270) has three issues: 1) a constant loud buzzing, requiring the replacement of a capacitor that has gone bad; 2) the LED light on the on/off switch does not function properly but does not affect the sound quality; and 3) the dust cap on the woofer has a hole in it (see closeup photo). This would be in the Non-Functioning category.
I am pricing as if for a single monitor in Very Good condition, with the other one thrown in for free, but of course the second monitor is fixable by someone with basic knowledge of electronics repair. There are some great YouTube vids showing exactly how to replace the capacitor; just search Google for "repair mackie hr824 capacitor".
I bought these monitors new in 1998 (see receipt photo) but frankly did not use my studio much back then so there is very little wear and tear on these monitors.
They are each packed in their original box and contain the original manual, spec sheet and registration form. Since monitors are fragile I can only offer local pickup in the Washington DC area.
