Hello! I am a fun, very easygoing guy who started playing guitar intently a few years ago. I’m firmly in the intermediate stage and want to play with others in an absolutely no-pressure/no-shame environment. I’ve tried the old tack of ‘play with people better than you’ but with little experience playing with anyone else, I always feel like I’m dragging other people down. So I spend most of my time playing solo, working on writing songs, jamming to YT backtracks, and noodling. I’ve learned most of the parts in maybe a dozen common songs, and I’ve got maybe a half-dozen tunes I’ve put together that I like to play and are good straight-forward jams.
So I’d love to meet some like-minded folks who can play but maybe not expertly and want a comfortable space to try and learn how to play better with others, learn and play whole songs. I’d love to teach some of the things I know, and I’d equally value being shown things or new approaches. I’m able to play electric guitars with people in my house at a good reasonable volume and I have a large collection of guitars, amps, and gear, so everything is all here and ready to go, if we were to meet at my place. I’m open to coming to you or other arrangements as well, and I’ve jammed in the rehearsal rooms at 7 Drum City many times.
I live on Capitol Hill, off of Lincoln Park, and am probably only interested in meeting folks that are DC/local. I bike everywhere, and am able to tote my required gear on my back, so I prefer something that doesn’t require me to drive, as I try to do so as little as possible. If I can’t bike someplace, I’m not going there more than once or twice unfortunately.
If it matters, I like to have a drink while I’m playing so someone maintaining strict sobriety may not feel as comfortable. I’m middle aged and a 9 to 5 professional, so I don’t go crazy and as noted, I’m as easygoing as they come. So drop me a line if you’re in DC and want to try out making music with someone new who will never judge or criticize (and expect the same in return).
