Position Description:

The Director will plan, direct, organize, and support the development and implementation of enrichment and financial and social empowerment programs JHI residents and community program participants. The Director leads three Jubilee programming initiatives: the Family Resource Center, a multi-generational parent and family support initiative; Resident Life, a social engagement and empowerment program for JHI residents; and a new initiative to provide permanent supportive housing for homeless DC residents. The Director of Family Services will also support another new JHI initiative, the Platform of Hope, which is a collaboration of multiple social service organizations united to provide economic, workforce, and skill-building resources for Program participants. Collectively, these programs build skills and resourcefulness for JHI residents and community participants through financial and economic empowerment, resource development, education, problem solving, and building resiliency.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Supervise Programming

• Support the Family Resource Center's core areas: educational and financial empowerment, parenting
support, training and multi-generational programming.
• Create a professional development environment for department staff to support and implement best practices
in advancing youth development and family engagement.
• Execute financial and social empowerment programs
• Provide linkages and referrals to employment, workforce development, and social service resources
• Staff Platform of Hope
• Assist with benefits applications
• Execute community building activities for JHI residents.
• Address JHI resident issues for housing stability
• Execute Aging in Place Program model for JHI residents
• Support and resource high school student transitioning to college and career
• Execute financial and social empowerment programs
• Provide linkages and referrals to employment, workforce development, and social service resources
• Support case management for formerly homeless JHI permanent supportive housing units.

Administration and Operations:

• Represent and champion Family Services in JHI meetings
• Support the vision, mission, and operations of the department within the organization
• Ensure full regulatory and legal compliance for JHI policies and operations
• Manage a team of direct and indirect service personnel (supervision, hiring, evaluations, professional
development, etc.)
• Monitor and evaluate effectiveness of programming, including qualitative and quantitative evaluation tools
and analysis
• Manage programs according to the approved budget and grant requirements

Maintain External Engagement and Communication:

• Communicate effectively with staff, volunteers and the community at large
• Develop and manage internal and external partnerships to meet parent, youth and community needs within
our Platform of Hope - Newborn to College and Career Collective.
• Responsible for growing and maintaining powerful partnerships with other family oriented program
partners and helping to build our collective approaches that equip children, youth and families for success


• Bachelor's Degree (Master's preferred) in Social Work, Psychology, or related field
• Minimum 5-7 years of related full-time work experience in social services for families and/or single adults;
community development or a related field
• Direct experience in parent or community engagement and/or youth development, a plus
• Minimum 3 to 5 years in a managerial/supervisory role required
• Strong administrative background that reflects solid management and communication skills
• Active spiritual grounding

Salary and Benefits:
