It has the battery always on quirk sometimes. Just remove the batteries when you don't need to use it or they'll drain. This is a common F100 fault that happens over the years with the selector switch because of its design. It won't get any worse.
The film door works great. Old F100 film doors often get broken by careless users. Be gentle with them.
