In the Senate, most legislation requires 60 votes to pass and the GOP has only 53 seats. Democrats did cause the government to shutdown with the exception of John Fetterman and Catherine Cortez Masto. Amos King, an independent who caucuses with Democrats also voted yes on the CR.

Most Democrats are rejecting the CR because they want to reinstate health care illegal aliens and extend Obamacare tax credits.

Chuck Schumer voted for the last CR in March causing backlash. Although he’s not up for reelection until 2028, he is now terrified that AOC will beat him in the primary.
