Will be involved with all phases of data processing of hydrographic survey data including reviewing hydrographic survey data, producing data products, and analyzing data products for completeness and accuracy. This includes the processing of hydrographic survey data collected using sonar, echo sounders, oceanographic instruments, GPS, data processing systems, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The candidate will work with different data formats and workflows that require some level of scripting or programming (python, C++, etc) to fully understand and implement processes and concepts.
5+ years of experience with hydrographic ocean mapping and data processing and data analysis and an understanding of hydrographic requirements. Experience with application software including Python, ArcGIS and/or QGIS, and CARIS. Programming experience in Python, C, or C++; experience in planning, acquiring, integrating, and disseminating ocean and coastal geospatial data and derivative products (including GIS); and, experience developing mapping standards and techniques, and improving data management and access, desired.
Must be able to pass a background investigation to obtain a security badge to enter the applicable government facility. US Citizenship or Permanent Residency required.
BS in hydrography, ocean mapping, physical science, engineering, mathematics, related discipline, or equivalent.
