40 HOURS SPECIAL POLICE OFFICER PRE-ASSIGNMENT TRAINING.
1107.1 Special police officers shall be required to satisfactorily complete 40 hours of pre-assignment training, which have been prescribed and approved by the Mayor.

Terrorism awareness, including building evacuation, unattended packages, and unknown substances;
Emergency procedures, including evacuation and first-aid; and
Customer service and interaction with tourists.

40 HOURS FIREARMS CERTIFICATION TRAINING INCLUDE CLASSROOM INSTRUCTION TO DISCUSS THE POLICY ON:
Use of Force, Use of Force Continuum,
Handling of services weapons,
Weapon safety,
when SPO's may discharge their firearm and when discharging a firearm is prohibited.
Cause of Firearm Accidents
Weapon Safety rules
Ammunition Components
How to overcome Cartridge Malfunctions
Clearing a Semi-Auto Malfunctions

All of this is followed by a written examination, and a weapons qualification at a firing range.

BATON CERTIFICATION
The ASP basic Certification (ABC) is a 8-hour, hands-on seminar which trains participants in the operational use of the ASP Tactical Baton. The program is simple to learn and easy to understand. It provides effective defensive impact weapon tactics for law enforcement and private security personnel, as well as responsible civilians without long hours of training.

HANDCUFF CERTIFICATION
The ASP Basic Handcuff Certification (ABC) is a 4-hour, hands-on seminar which trains participants in the operational use of the hinged and chain handcuffs. The program is simple to learn and easy to understand. It provides effective mechanical restraint tactics for law enforcement and private security personnel without long hours of training. The techniques were designed to work effectively for all users, male and female, large and small, fit as well as those in less-than-peak physical condition.

PAPPER SPRAY CERTIFICATION
This four (4) hour end-user level certification program focuses on the deployment, handling and documentation of the use of OC (oleoresin capsicum) chemical aerosols. This course will train the special police officer in the use of aerosols tactics and will help protect both the officer as well as their agency from costly litigation issues that could arise from the use of OC aerosol projectors.

Students must have duty belt, baton, handcuff for the baton and handcuff certification.

DC CONCEALED CARRY CERTIFICATION.
District of Columbia Concealed Carry Pistol Licenses (CCPLs) are required in order to concealed carry and are issued to residents and non-residents and require a firearms training course that has been approved by the MPD. You must be at least 21 years old to get a concealed carry permit in D.C. Any firearm you plan on carrying in Washington D.C. will also need to be registered in the District.

NOTE: All payments must be paid before the start of class,
(NO REFUND) if you are a NO SHOW.

NOTE: After completing our training course you will be sponsored to receive your commission (SPO license) this will allow you to start work immediately. Most training academies DO NOT sponsor. This means after completing their training program you will NOT be a license officer. You will have to find sponsorship in order to receive your commission.

*** The following below extra fees are charged by DC government or other entities that are not included in you course tuition. After you complete your training you are responsible for the following fees:

$84.00 fee made payable to DC government for your SPO application;
$35.00 fee made payable to DC Treasurer for your fingerprint/background investigation;
$35.00 fee made payable to a drug test company for your drug test
$35.00 fee made payable to the company conducting your physical

To register for course all students must bring to our office:
License or Stare ID - non-expired
Birth certificate or non-expired passport
If there are prior arrest, must bring deposition from the courts showing the outcome of charges
Course is limited to 10 students.
