Position Overview: This position maintains the security and safety of students, the school staff and property through patrol of school buildings and grounds, to prevent unauthorized visitors, property damage and to provide for general building security. This position is unarmed and does not have the power to arrest individuals for security breaches. No firearms will be authorized or carried at any time in the performance of these duties. This position is not responsible for conducting inspections of building and grounds for hazardous conditions and/or safety violations.

Qualifications: The successful applicant for this position will have a Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent. Bilingual in Spanish and English a plus.
Ability to lift and carry short distances.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Experience in a school environment.
Demonstrated knowledge of police and security techniques; good knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques employed in establishing and maintaining building security.
Skills in observing and detecting unusual occurrences or behavior.
Basic First Aid knowledge preferred.
Comfortable in a Mac environment.

Essential Responsibilities:
Provide a safe secure environment for students, staff and guests on campus.
Establish and maintain good rapport with students, staff and community members.
Helps to create and maintain a working relationship with the local police and fire and rescue departments.
Monitor security surveillance equipment to protect facilities and assets.
Assist in the development and implementation of action plans to provide a safe environment and immediate response to imminent threats of violence, criminal incidents, emergency medical incidents, auto accidents and others.
Regulate student’s behavior on campus, in cafeterias, restrooms, parking lots and other open areas.
Assist with controlling classroom disturbances or acts of defiance. Request assistance from school administration and/or police when necessary.
Detain students suspected of narcotics, tobacco, or alcoholic infractions.
Investigate, review, and report to the school administration and local, state and federal law enforcement agencies, as appropriate, on accidents, incidents and violations of law.
Patrol and confront unauthorized persons for questioning and checking for passes and identification cards as needed.
Assist law enforcement officers as directed by the school administration.
Direct traffic and parking on campus; check vehicles for proper parking authorization; determine if vehicles are parked in restricted areas.
Assume fire alarm responsibilities as assigned by the principal.
Follow policies and administrative rules and regulations.
Maintain proper paperwork/reports to ensure all complaints filed with law enforcement have been signed off by the principal or their designated representative.
Ensure doors/gates are locked and opened at designated times determined by principal.
Supervise and patrol assigned school activities.
Demonstrate problem solving and responsible decision making skills.
Embrace French, Spanish, and Chinese cultures by leading and participating in cultural activities for faculty and students
Fulfill other duties as assigned
