About the Role
We are seeking an inspiring and supportive Director of Engineering to join our clients’ team to grow, lead, and support a team of full-stack Software Engineers and Engineering Managers working on a full range of products. Their technologies are spread across Node, Java, C#, some python, and even some Wordpress, depending on product.
The Director of Engineering will manage a team of Engineering Managers and full-stack Software Engineers, working closely with peers in product and other stakeholders to define and execute work that aligns with company and R&D vision and goals. The work represented by the members of your team is likely to be diverse, representing any of the company’s product lines and corresponding technology stacks. Your focus will be to see and plan for the connections across that work, coach managers and engineers, and to develop best practices and processes that prioritize excellence and collaboration. While you may occasionally be asked to or needed to contribute hands-on, this is largely a hands-off role.
This role will report to the Vice President, Engineering.

-Experienced in Agile methodologies and practices
-Collaborated across functions (Product, UX, and other stakeholders)
-Communicated technical information to technical and non-technical audiences providing clear, concise, and constructive feedback
-Git or similar version control
-Adept in Amazon Web Services (AWS) or similar elastic computing services
Our client offers competitive salaries, equity packages, and retirement accounts. The base salary for these manager positions can go up to $200,000/year. Location: The offices are Downtown DC, not far from Metro Center. They are looking for only local candidates who will be on-site a majority of the time. While some off-site would be allowed, the majority of the time you will be expected to be on-site in DC.
