Our client is a large brand name consumer company that you’ll be excited to tell your family and friends you are doing work with. They are a company in the News and Media industry. For this client, we are looking for a great Principal Software Engineer to work with our client’s development team to deliver high quality applications.
The Principal Software Engineer will join the Audience Development & Engineering team with our client. The Principal Software Engineer leads the architecture and development of new services. You will be responsible for leading the development of high-quality production systems that scale to millions of users. Initially, you will be working on projects associated with the 2020 election cycle. Our client uses a variety of technologies including AWS, Java, and MongoDB.

• 8+ years software engineer experience with a focus on back end work.
• Extensive experience using AWS, Java and MongoDB.
• Passion for problem solving and building end-to-end solutions.
• Desire to work in an agile environment.
• Team player who is looking to take a leadership role who has the ability to teach as well as learn.
• Ability to work collaboratively with internal customers and team members.
This is a contract, or contract-to-hire position (the initial engagement will be 6 months, with the likelihood of extension or conversion) working initially from home, but eventually at our clients’ site in North West Washington DC. There is a probability of some remote work on this project (1-2 days/week), but the engineer MUST be in the greater DC area. Hourly rate for this slot would be up to $120/hr for a great Software Engineer.
