Summary/General Description of Job:

This position provides support to the SSP HQ Help Desk. Resolves a variety of routine and difficult operating problems. In response to customer and system network issues, applies standard operating or corrective procedures and handles problems that do not respond to preplanned procedure. Assists subject matter specialists with resolution of problems.

Essential Duties & Job Functions:

•Receives assignments designed to expand practical experience in applying computer troubleshooting techniques and procedures
•Uses established fact-finding approaches, knowledge of pertinent work processes and procedures, and familiarity with related computer system software, and computer equipment
•Researches routine user problems and solves them by modifying the existing system when the solutions follow clear precedents
•Follows security procedures & regulations for processing/controlling classified material access
•Performs tasks to maintain computer equipment and their peripherals
•Repairs hardware and software failures as needed in a timely manner to provide an efficient work environment

•Maintains inventory databases and maintenance logs
•Works independently, adapts guides to specific situations, resolves problems and deviations according to established practices, and obtains advice where precedents are unclear or not available
•Creates, implements, and manages SSP procedures and technical support documents in accordance with SSP operating policies
•Provides guidance to new employees on current Help Desk policies and procedures
•Advises users on software and hardware requirements
•Evaluates new software requests for Configuration Control Board (CCB) submittal
•Evaluates validity of need, provide security scan reports, and complete and present CCB packages for consideration
•Performs other duties as assigned

•Ability to carry out tasks with minimal direct supervision
•Working knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel and Access
•Working knowledge of PC hardware and software support
•Working knowledge of Windows 7/10
•IAT Level I certification (A+, Network +, SSCP, etc.)
•Ability to write clearly and edit work for spelling and grammar
•1 years Help Desk training or experience
•SECRET security clearance


•MCSA, MCSE,MCITP Security Plus
•Course work or experience working with Privacy Act information
•2 years of college in computer or related field
•Peripheral experience with governmental Help Desk operations
•4+ years Help Desk training or experience
