Be an Insect Ambassador at NMNH!

As an Insect Ambassador, you will get to handle an assortment of different insects and arachnids, perform feedings for live tarantulas, release exotic butterflies, and engage Museum visitors about them in our open-flight pavilion.

Our Insect Zoo contains over 50 species of arthropods from across the world and hundreds of exotic butterflies fly in the Butterfly Pavilion. Experience just how amazing these animals can be!

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:

18 or older

Able to withstand hot and humid temperatures

Must pass a Smithsonian background check

SCHEDULING REQUIREMENTS:

1 year commitment at 96 hours per year (8 hours per month)

Shifts are 4 hours long, 7-days per week from 9:45am-1:45pm and 1:15-5:15pm

Must attend pre-shift meetings at 9:45am or 1:15pm

TRAINING:

Attend full day trainings on Saturday, Feb 16, Sunday, Feb 17, and Saturday, Feb 23

Also attend a 3-hour Museum orientation on Sunday, Feb 3, Thursday, Feb 5, Sunday, March 3 or Tuesday, March 5
