Freelance Marketing Communications Writer (Remote)

THIS IS A VIRTUAL FREELANCE CONTRACTOR POSITION
Government Business Results (GBR) is a small, fast-paced, go-to-market agency that works with global tech firms to help them grow their businesses in the public sector market (government, education, and healthcare). Headquartered in Virginia with offices all over the U.S., we specialize in developing strategy, marketing and sales enablement for our clients.


The job:

This is a contract position for marketing communication (marcom) writing. The ideal marcom writer has a strong, clear voice in their writing and can make the benefits of technical solutions understandable and compelling to the public sector audience in a succinct way. Currently, we are offering work on a per-project basis, but the right freelancer can earn 20-30 hours per week of steady work.

Responsibilities

• Create and update a variety of marketing communications materials, including, but not limited to data sheets, white papers, solution briefs, brochures, PowerPoint presentations, copy blocks, blogs, social copy, email invites/landing pages, generic sales copy, call scripts, sales prompters, microsite text for websites and training materials
• Understand and communicate product positioning, relating it to larger public sector initiatives or technological trends
• Maintain awareness of public sector trends and client style guidelines and editorial voice to position products effectively
• Provide support when needed to develop additional collateral and presentations
• Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned

Must have

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent work experience), preferably in English, Communications, Journalism, Marketing or a related field
• 3-5 years of communications experience in B2B technology marketing
• Previous experience creating engaging marketing copy for industry/business audiences, including email invitations, web page landing copy, webinar abstracts and social media
• Consistent professional copywriting experience within the past 5 years
• Experience with Adobe, MS Office and G-Suite

Nice to have

• Previous experience creating engaging marketing copy for public sector (government, education or healthcare) audiences
• A flexible personality: the ability to adapt and overcome should be core to who you are
• Fast-worker: getting it done right is critical, but so is getting it done quickly
• Analytical, organized and self-managing
• Excellent attention to detail
• Natively relentless in the pursuit of creating the most effective set of content possible
• A “to-the-point” style of writing
• Familiarity with Fortune 1000 technology companies, their products and their customers
