Payroll Manager (1153) (Gaithersburg)

Currently recruiting an Payroll Manager in Gaithersburg, Maryland, (remote during the COVID-19 pandemic) to manage payroll operations supporting the operations of a division of successful defense contractor that staffs over 650 individuals at client sites nationwide on three pay cycles. The Payroll Manager has two direct reports and reports to the COO. The successful Payroll Manager will have experience managing accounting and payroll functions in a federal or staffing context. Expertise in Kronos Workforce Now is a significant strength.
       
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE PAYROLL MANAGER INCLUDE:

  • Responsible for overseeing the processing of company payroll for federal contract services at multiple client facilities nationwide and three pay cycles.
  • Subject-matter expert of timekeeping and payroll processing utilzing Kronos Workforce Ready.
  • Ensures accurate calculation of wages, tax withholding, and company deductions.
  • Prepares statistical reports on employee pay, commissions and bonuses; vacation, and sick leave; taxes, withholding, etc.
  • Ensures proper governmental reporting and compliance.
  • Directs the activities of a small staff of professionals.  
  • Facilitates management and employee understanding of payroll procedures.
  • Reviews and updates payroll Standard Operating Procedures, as needed.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources (HR) and accounting teams.

QUALIFICATIONS OF THE PAYROLL MANAGER:

  • 5 years of strong accounting and payroll experience, preferably 3 years within the government contracting sector 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field preferred
  • Experience with Kronos Workforce Now payroll systems a significant strength
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 suite of tools
