12 volumes of THE ALMANAC OF AMERICAN POLITICS (1990-2012)
I’m selling a batch of 12 consecutive editions of THE ALMANAC OF AMERICAN POLITICS, a respected compilation of in-depth profiles of all 535 members of Congress and their election histories, edited by Michael Barone and a succession of co-editors. These are the biennial volumes for 1990 through 2012.
The six volumes for 1990, 1992, 1994, 1996, 1998, and 2000 are all hardcover. The six volumes for 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010, and 2012 are softcover. The format is 6.25 inches wide, 9.5 inches high, and about 2.25 inches deep.
All are in excellent condition, most virtually as-new.
If you’re a political junkie, historian, journalist, congressional staffer, campaign worker, blogger, or podcaster, this is a serious reference trove: detailed profiles of every senator and representative in each Congress, plus state and district background, voting records, committee roles, interest-group ratings, and narrative assessments of how they operate in Washington and back home. Plus, detailed compilations of election results, primary and general. Each volume runs roughly 1,500–1,800+ pages of professionally edited reporting.
Yes, much information is available “on the internet,” but it’s very scattered and of very mixed quality. These volumes give you densely detailed documentation of the year-to-year actions of specific lawmakers and their election histories in one place, with clear sourcing and context--all readily accessible on your shelf, with no broken links, no shifting webpages, and no AI hallucinations.
George F. Will called this book "the bible of American politics." The late Jim Lehrer called it "the single best reference there is for Congress and Washington specifically and the country generally."
