Self Defense -- (currently online) Join us for a free class Tuesday or Thursday evening! 8:00 -- 9:30 pm-Okinawan Uechi Ryu Karate-Do. The study of karate does not require exceptional strength, athletic ability, or any prior experience. People from all walks of life enjoy the benefits from the martial arts, regardless of their level of proficiency or physical capabilities. Proper training in this dynamic martial art provides the student with a great aerobic workout; and, improves confidence, focus, and strength. - What Can I Expect During a Typical Training Session? Training begins and ends with a ceremonial bow between the students and the teacher. After the bow in, students are led through a series of warm-up exercises. These exercises emphasize stretching, coordination, and balance. We will help you test your physical and mental limits. Following the warm-up, students perform a series of drills used to develop timing, speed, and precision. Free sparring, pre-arranged sparring, and body conditioning are introduced gradually and are always done in a controlled manner.
