Crime boss Bart raises orphan Danny with no knowledge of anything other than how to fight, using him as an enforcer when debts must be collected. Planning to enter Danny into a fight tournament and retire with the prize money, Bart disappears after a deadly drive-by shooting. Danny flees and takes shelter with piano tuner Sam. Away from Bart's abusive control, Danny learns how to live like a human and begins investigating his past.
Jet Li delivers a powerhouse performance, particularly through his nuanced facial expressions that perfectly convey a range of emotions. It's a truly captivating portrayal that leaves a lasting impression. Excellent fight scenes along with touching family interactions and even some dark humor with Bob Hoskins all congeal into a very entertaining vehicle! Morgan Freeman who is excellent as the blind man. Jet Li is super good as the confused fighter and Bo Hopkins is just plain mean as the crime boss. Great movie.

"THE ONE"
In a stunning dual role, international star Jet Li portrays Gabriel Yulaw, a police officer confronted with a sinister form of himself escaped from an advanced, parallel universe and intent on killing Gabriel. His alter ego's hunt culminates in a fateful battle between good and evil that changes Gabriel's perception of reality and forces him to examine the evil hidden within himself.
People who are into martial arts will enjoy the fact that the final confrontation is between hard style and soft style. A very fun movie if you are more the type of person who wants to stretch your imagination, versus the type who wants to refuse imagination in favor of realism.
