Are you getting married? Do you need to book a photographer who will make you look awesome but won’t break the bank? I will photograph your wedding or formal event starting at $500. Sound cheap?
Let me explain what that includes in just a moment.
But first, let me save you some time.
Read This First
Some people want a guy with an official-looking camera and maybe a flashy light to make them feel like they checked that box. They give no more thought to the photographer than the chair covers. To them, anybody will do.
If that’s you, that's fine. Let me save you some time. Stop reading right now and find that guy. That’s not me.
I only want to work with people excited to work with me. People who are open to trying something creative and maybe have a few ideas themselves. People who want to put their personalities in their photos and not just their faces.
Hiring A Professional
If you’ve decided to hire a professional photographer, your photos should be more than something you could take on a cellphone. Your guests will take care of that.
Quality counts. It does to me and I hope it does to you, too.
Now, don’t get me wrong, a great photographer could do an incredible job photographing a wedding with a cellphone. It’s not the camera that counts, it's the person using it.
If you’ve done a bit of research you know pretty much any wedding photographer will cost you in the ballpark of $3,000 to $5,000.
The top pros charge $20,000-$50,000 per wedding.
Why would anyone pay that much? Are they being ripped off?
If your photographer’s photos don’t blow you away and he’s asking for even 1000 dollars, I personally would pick someone else. You would be wasting your money, your time and the opportunity to capture one of the most important moments in both your lives.
Don’t pay $3,000 just to say you hired the photographer. If his price is the only thing that makes him seem like a professional, he’s not.
If you haven’t seen a photographer’s work or don’t like it, don’t hire him (or her).
A talented, ambitious and hard-working photographer cares deeply about the work he does. Photographs are art. A passion brought to life.
Art takes time. Art takes preparation. Art takes vision.
That care and thoughtfulness should be reflected in the photographer and his work.
Like anything, photographers come in all shapes and sizes. Once you’ve been fitted for your perfect gown, make sure your photographer is just as good a fit.
