You will create an environment that is conducive to the growth and development of children in the realization of their fullest learning potential. You will prepare materials to meet the needs of the children, interact with and support their parents, and operate in a manner in keeping with Montessori Method and concerns for educational excellence.
The Assistant Teacher will work with the Lead Extended Day Teacher, in the afternoon Extended Day program. The Assistant helps to create a positive learning environment guided by the Montessori philosophies. The Assistant Teacher helps identify each child’s development needs. The Assistant communicates well with the others in the classroom and ensures that the classroom environment facilitates a peaceful atmosphere for learning. This is a part-time, 12-month position working from 3:00 pm to 6:30 pm.
Experience and Qualifications:
As the Extended Day Assistant Teacher, you must have a high school diploma or equivalent, however, a Bachelor’s Degree preferred. In addition, the 90-hour certification is preferred. The Assistant Teacher must have an interest in working with children, learning more about the Montessori Philosophy, and expanding their Montessori knowledge base. The Assistant must be able to demonstrate effective classroom skills and strong communication skills.
