The Katherine Thomas School High School Program (KTHS) serves students in grades 9 through 12 with language and learning disabilities, autism, intellectual disabilities, and/or other health impairments. KTHS in Rockville, MD is seeking to hire a full-time high school Special Education Teaching Assistant for a 10 months position beginning with the current school year. TA position responsibilities include:
*Assist teachers in implementing content area curricula
*Guide and assist students in the classroom in following the teacher’s instruction and school/program rules
*Provide necessary accommodations to meet individual, group, and program needs
*Create a supportive learning environment
*Implement Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
*Document student progress through written notes and narrative reports
*Drive the school minivan as needed

Required Experience for the Teaching Assistant:
*Must have a BA degree in education or a related field
*A valid driver's license with a good driving record
*Experience with students with learning disabilities, Autism, intellectual disabilities, and/or other health impairment preferred
*Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly
*Knowledge of education and behavior management methods, procedures, and techniques
*Must be reliable, maintain a professional attitude, and be team oriented

As a condition of employment, all new hires, including part-time, temporary and seasonal employees, reporting to the worksite, as well as working remotely, are required to have received at least the first dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or the single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. New hires must receive any additional vaccine doses in the appropriate timeframes to be considered fully vaccinated and submit weekly test results until they are fully vaccinated.
