Fabulous piece of an African tribal art by an artist from the Makonde tribe of Tanzania. Hand carved from a single piece of ebony, a hard wood. It is a sculpture of "the Tree of Life," or Ujamaa, that shows how a family survives supporting each other throughout generations. Circa 1960.
