A striking early to mid-century Chinese storage chest featuring elaborate Chinoiserie motifs. The exterior is finished in a deep black lacquer, serving as a dramatic backdrop for hand-painted gilt scenes of Imperial five-clawed dragons amidst stylized clouds and swirling waves.

• Artistry & Detail: The top and front are inset with hand-carved soapstone or wood relief panels depicting traditional court figures in a landscape. The sides feature large circular "Shou" (longevity) medallions and delicate bird-and-floral (plum blossom) motifs.

• Hardware: Outfitted with original heavy-duty black iron hardware, including a traditional rectangular faceplate with a sliding pin latch and sturdy bail handles on the sides for transport.
