This is a gorgeous late 20th century Korean apothecary chest that has a lot of versatility. It could be a dining room buffet, entry way console table, or an office credenza. The back of the cabinet is finished, so the piece could be floating in a room.
The apothecary chest features solid wood construction, a pagoda style top with upward turned ends, 13 drawers of various sizes, and 2 central doors that open to reveal a spacious storage space. The chest is accented with beautifully grained Japanese Zelkova (keyaki) burl wood veneer on the drawer and door fronts, as well as elaborate brass hardware and fittings in the campaign style.
This vintage cabinet is in very good vintage condition. The cabinet is heavy and solid with perfectly working drawers and doors. The glowing wood is richly colored. The top is very clean with very faint scratches that are difficult to photograph. There are scratches and small areas of wood loss here and there. The brass hardware has patina but shows well without further polishing. Please see photos for more details about condition.
The chest measures 67" wide, 18" deep, and 32" tall.
