This is a rare set of 8 postmodern cream painted and upholstered bentwood dining arm chairs. The chairs are unsigned but closely resemble Ward Bennet’s 1964 “Landmark” design.
According to a 1986 work ticket found under the seat of one chair, the previous owners had sent the chairs to a professional refinishing shop to be custom painted in cream and reupholstered. The painted finish and upholstery has held up pretty well over the past 40 years, but the chairs could probably benefit from a new coat of paint and new fabric.
The circa 1970s chairs are in excellent structural condition and fair cosmetic condition. Structurally, they are all solid and sturdy with no movement at all in the joints. There is a moderate amount of paint loss on some of the chairs, especially on the arms. There are also stains on some of the chair seats. Please see photos for more details about the condition of the chairs.
Each chair measures 23.75” wide, 20.5” deep, and 32.5” tall with an 18” seat height and 21.25” arm height.
Price is for the set of 8. Willing to sell set of 4 for half the list price.
