Patent law firm in Gaithersburg is searching for a staff member to handle patent docketing and patent assistant responsibilities. This is a full time position with benefits. The office is conveniently located near I-270 and Route 117 with free parking. This is an in-office position.

Patent Docketing and Admin Responsibilities:
• Reviewing and docketing all incoming correspondence for U.S., PCT and foreign patent applications.
• Create new matter numbers in accounting system and docket system.
• Reviewing and clearing docket on a daily basis to ensure that deadlines are met and the system is properly updated.
• Review and provide reminders to attorneys and support leads of upcoming items.
• Process special requests including, case closing, client matter changes, assignment changes, etc.
• Perform research in USPTO, WIPO, and foreign websites as needed.
• Review incoming and outgoing emails and update the docket system accordingly.
• Prepare client status reports as needed.
• Review of case files for document completeness and update where necessary
• Electronic conversion of documents, indexing and uploading to databases.
• Updating and reviewing client-run databases for parallel docketing.
• Support attorneys and staff in other tasks as necessary
Desired Skills/Traits:
• MS Office
• Familiarity with Case Management database platforms
• Prefer 2 years patent docketing experience
• Working knowledge / experience with CPi, Foundation IP, Anaqua is a plus – please highlight this if applicable
• Keen attention to detail and enjoys details
• Discrete and able to handle confidential information
• Longevity in employment history
• Excellent analytical and organizational skills and curiosity
• Self-starter, thrive in a fast paced environment
• Ability to identify issues and work to resolution before they become problems.
• Stellar interpersonal skills including excellent verbal and written communication skills
This position is full time, and includes health insurance (partial premium paid by firm); flexible spending account; 401k participation after waiting period; twelve (12) paid holidays per year. Hourly rate will be commensurate with experience.
