Experienced Guitar Teacher Looking for Students (Anywhere/Online Instruction)

offered virtually

Always wanted to learn to play guitar, but never had the time or instruction? Look no further. My name is Zach, I've been playing electric and acoustic guitars for fifteen years, teaching for ten, am currently the guitarist for DC-based progressive rock band Wings Denied, and I am looking for more students!

I am fully comfortable teaching any level from beginner to upper-intermediate, in any style of music you want to learn, from chord-based indie rock and folk, to the most technical or heaviest of music. I currently own and play 6, 7, and 8 string guitars, acoustic, electric, and even fretless, and am comfortable working across a variety of styles. Skills I have taught in the past include: Fingerpicking, Sweep Picking, Alternate Picking, Legato, Two-Handed Tapping (a particular specialty of mine), Soloing, and understanding rhythms and complex time signatures/key signatures. I'm also comfortable teaching basic music theory, including scales, modes, rhythmic and musical notation, tablature, and chords. It's generally necessary for you to have your own guitar, in order to practice between lessons.

For examples of my playing and writing, please feel free to listen to Wings Denied's music here:

I composed all the instrumental music for this piece, and performed the solo from 2:59-3:31.

I have availability during both day and nighttime hours, M-F, and I can work around your schedule to find times that work best for both of us. Due to COVID-19, I am primarily offering lessons via webcam at this time, and I have a professional quality streaming setup to ensure that it's as close to being in the same room as possible. That said, I'm willing to consider in-person lessons on a case-by-case basis.

My rates are $25/half hour, $45/full hour, which includes a full lesson, as well as post-lesson recaps and practice emailed to you after each lesson. I also offer discounted 5 and 10 lesson packages, please contact me for more info. I'm fully comfortable working with students of all ages, and all of my lesson plans are individually constructed to fit the student's needs. References available upon request.

Please email with any questions, concerns, or interest.

I'm also available to play at your wedding, proposal, anniversary dinner, or any other event you may like, provided appropriate COVID-19 safety measures are in place. Rates negotiable.
