Kay Model M-1B.
Old inherited upright bass. Kay M-1B
I had it dated and appraised online by a guy who runs a vintage Kay fan site (Kay bass.com), and his estimation was that it was made in Chicago around 1952.
Could probably use a setup as it hasn't really been played in about five years. There's some signs of age (small chips and laminate repairs, what look like finish cracks), but it plays and sounds like it should, a thuddy low end machine. No major damage from what I can see. Has a pickup in the bridge.
Per the estimate the appraisal I received was as follows:
Kay bass model M-1B was manufactured in Chicago, IL in 1952. Depending on condition, sound and demand in your area, the bass could be worth $2000-$3000.
