Please join us at the Saturday, October 4, 2025, MATTS meeting starting at 6:30 p.m. for MATTS members and their guests and at 7pm for the general public. We'll be at the Benjamin Banneker Historical Park and Museum, 300 Oella Avenue, Catonsville, MD 21228, with a Zoom meeting for MATTS members starting around 7:00 pm for those who are not able to be there in person. We have a speaker program and adoptable turtles on display. Feel free to bring your pet turtle or tortoise for "show and shell". No displaying turtles under 4", please, due to Maryland state regulations. Do not transport turtles in water, due to the risk of aspiration while traveling in sloshing water. You can add water to a water dish or temporary enclosure at the meeting. Plastic totes make great transport and display enclosures.
Ray Bosmans will present "Herp Friendly Horticultural Practices in Maintaining a Home Landscape." He will provide best practices that cover mowing, pest management, weed control, planting designs and other advice.
Susan Greshams and Nathalie Rioux will lead a short discussion on hibernation (brumation) to discuss how they prepare their turtles for hibernation. This is an excellent opportunity for other MATTS members to share their best practices for brumation.
