Big Brother Butler's production of the hit play "Don't Tell Grandma I Met Him Online" is returning and is currently looking for talent in the Washington D.C. area. This comedic/drama production is about a young widow named Brenda who lost her husband in a freak accident and decides to try on line dating after her Aunt Shirley encourages her to do so. Find out what happens next and what Grandma has in store for Brenda.
1) "Grandma" is the moral compass and gives Godly advice to her nieces. Must be 55-65 yrs old.
2) "Brenda" is a recently widowed woman cautiously reentering the dating world. Intelligent, emotionally layered, and quietly strong, with humor that emerges naturally from life's awkward moments. 28-38 yrs old. Singing is a plus.
3) "Juanita" is the round the way chick who meets men on-lin. She has lot's of sass. 27-37 yrs old.
4) "Aunt Shirley" has been divorced for several years and is introduced to on-line dating by her girlfriend Juanita. Must possess some sass but maybe not as much as Juanita. 42- 48yrs old.
MALE CHARACTERS
1) "Michael " is a confident, self assured man who appears emotionally in control but avoids vulnerability. Intelligent, charming without being flashy and accustomed to leading with confidence. Looking for an actor who can convey internal conflict without overplaying charm. 30-45 yrs old.
2) "Brian" is the conscientious "good guy" who gets the girl. His business partner Michael tries to show him the ropes of online dating but Brian has other plans. 32-38 yrs old.
3) "Sonny", Michaels's son eager to emulate his father and gets in trouble over his head. 18-25 years old.
4) “Tyrell, Juanita’s boy toy, confident, physically imposing presence; must be comfortable using physicality as part of character work. 33-38 yrs old.
GRANDMA: matriarch of family, hilarious, doesn't take any mess especially from Michael
Brenda: widow, single parent, trying to get back in dating scene
Michael: playboy, serial online dater, main male character,
Brian: respectable single father, boy next door, Brenda's high school sweetheart
Aunt Shirley: never married, kids have left home, Materialistic
Juanita: street smart, sharp tongued, high energy character with strong comedic timing.
Sonny: teenage son of Michael, who emulates his player dad
Tyrell: confident, physically imposing presence: must be comfortable using physicality in character work
PRINCIPLE ROLES CURRENTLY SEEKING:
Principal Role - Michael (Male, 30-45)
Principle Role - Brenda (Female, 28-38)
Principle Role - Shirley (Female, 42-48)
Principle Role - Brian (Male, 32-38)
Experience is preferred; however, we are seeking actors with strong instincts, discipline, and the ability to take direction. This is a character- driven production requiring preparation, consistency, and commitment.
Rehearsals will begin remotely (virtual). In-person rehearsals will begin once the cast demonstrates cohesion and a working level of memorization.

Director's Note: This production is character driven and director led. Actors must be open to collaboration, repetition and growth. Consistent participation and preparation are essential.
