I have an older Onkyo home theater receiver I no longer use that has a sound lag issue.

Unit works perfectly except there's a long lag after turning on before the sound is produced.

I'm not into trying to trouble shoot electronic items so I'm giving it away instead of trashing it.
Could be something as updating firmware but have no idea.
