19th century carved wood and plaster overlay, Daoist Celestial Master Zhang Daoling sitting on a tiger. He was a Chinese religious leader who lived during the Eastern Han Dynasty, credited with founding the Way of the Celestial Masters sect of Taoism, which is also known as the Way of the Five Pecks of Rice. He was the founder of Taoism/Daoism. Stone eyes on man and tiger. Amazing detail. Plaster veneer has chipped off in places, given its age. Measures 17" wide x 16" tall. Serious inquiries only.
