Hammered aluminum pieces were hand-wrought by manufacturers in the ‘20s, ‘30s, ‘40s, and ‘50s. They were the cheaper alternative to silver plate, could be used daily, didn’t have to be constantly polished, and were lightweight. With their textures and delicate engraving, some pieces are quite elegant in design and function. Many are by Forman, which are highest quality and harder to find. They display beautifully, and are unique.
My wife has collected these pieces from antique stores all over the south, but is now ready for someone else to enjoy them as we downsize.
