For Sale is my old mountain bike that I used for racing, then single track, then commuting to work, and now it just collects dust. If you are not familiar with Whyte, it was started by John Whyte who was a formula one race car designer and a designer for Marin. This was their first commercially sold bike that prototyped all sorts of new technology (the most famous of which is the wish bone frame--two rear shocks for front and rear suspension. That helps it corner much faster, for example.) It's names the PRST-1, and called the Preston for short. This bike was written by the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers in the Mt Bike World Championships the year it came out. Despite the look, the bike is essentially built for single-track, cross-country mountain biking. It's got a lot of parts that were high-end years ago: cane creek head set, Azonic carbon fiber handle bars, single-digit brakes, titanium seat, Fox Float suspensions, XT drive train, etc. on an aircraft-grade aluminum frame. Super fun, very fast bike to ride. But it hasn't gotten use in years since I've had kids.
The bike is in fair condition (small wear on seat, etc.) but has two significant issues--hence the price. First, year ago, I let my overweight cousin ride it for a couple hundred yards and during that time, he managed to catch air over the handlebars and bent the frame. You can see if you stare down the front tire of the bike, it's slightly not in alignment with where you'd think it should be. The bike has ridden fine since, but wanted to disclose that. Second, from the miles of commuting, the bike is worn. It makes creeking noises now when it rides. I'm not a mechanic, and don't know if it can be tuned up enough. It'd probably need to be taken apart lubed and adjusted and put back together. Given the cost of bike tune-ups in this area, maybe it's worth more for parts. Anyway, that's why I'm selling the bike for what is less than the value of parting it out.
The bike comes with a set of spiked platform petals. But I also have a set of nearly new Egg Beater petals that I can throw in for $50.

I’m near the Braddock Metro in Old Town. I'm listing a few of my other bikes for sale as well, so feel free to take a look at those, too.
