Vice President & General Manager of T.A.C (Manassas, VA)

SUMMARY:
The VP/GM has full P/L responsibility for this multi-office division and is responsible for all operational matters of TAC in accordance with RDS’s safety and operating policies and procedures. They also are responsible for working with regional and national leaders from RDS in leading the development and expansion of TAC within this divisions operating regions. They will also be responsible for achieving the sales, earnings and strategic initiatives for the division and for leading its annual strategic planning process.
Through a respectful, thoughtful and hands-on style, guided by the safety objectives and entrepreneurial spirit of RDS and TAC, the VP/GM will provide the leadership, oversight and guidance to ensure that TAC possesses and maintains the proper operational controls and disciplines, sales processes, administrative procedures, and the trained people and team-building skills necessary to effectively grow TAC through strategic initiatives, and to protect, enhance and expand its market reputation, financial strength and operating efficiency.

This leadership position is for a senior operational leadership role at T.A.C Ceramic Tile Co. (TAC or division), a RDS Company. TAC has been a leading subcontractor since 1984, which provides expert design studio support and high-quality floor covering installation services for its regional and national home builder and multi-family commercial customers through its three offices, which are in Manassas, VA, Richmond, VA and Elkridge, MD. This position will operate from Manassas, VA, but will be responsible for all of TAC’s current and any future locations.

POSITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Ensure the division’s adherence to RDS’s safety policies and procedures.
• Responsible for the implementation, adherence to and overall effectiveness of all division processes and controls, and for supporting and leading a continuous improvement environment.
• Possess a full understanding of and leadership to the sales, administration, customer service, inventory management, dispatch, warehousing and field teams daily.
• Provide timely, accurate and actionable reports on the operating condition of the division.
• Responsible for guiding the division to achieve its sales and profitability goals, as well as supporting the attainment of RDS’s overall business goals and objectives.
• Review procedures and protocols in the attempt to uncover weaknesses within the division’s existing operations and make recommendations for improvement.
• Develop and implement sales and operational plans to support and facilitate near and long-term growth and profitability objectives of the division.
• Take ownership and lead the development, communication and implementation of effective operational processes, procedures and controls to support the division.
• Provide mentoring and coaching to build high-functioning teams and develop and inspire employees in all functional areas of the division.
• Foster a success-oriented and accountable environment within the branch.
• Act as ambassador for the organization to clients, vendors, and business partners, and provide leadership support to the sales team to support and drive success.
• Analyze and evaluate activities, costs, operations, budgets, and forecast data to determine the division’s progress towards its stated goals and objective

COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• A minimum of five years’ experience in the construction industry in sales or management leadership, preferably in the new home building or new multi-family construction industries with annual sales of at least $50 million.
• A minimum of five years of business management experience, including responsibility for operations, budgeting, planning and financial oversight.
• A minimum of ten years of broad-based supervisory or leadership experience, involving personnel management, including hiring, supervision, evaluation, coaching and teambuilding, preferably with at least 50 direct and indirect reports.
• Experience working with executive management and senior functional leaders.
• College graduate with a B.S. or B.A. degree; preferably in construction, business management, finance or accounting. Substantial relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Most recent 3 years will have included operations and/or sales leadership experience in a customer service-oriented company; preferably a multi-unit organization.
• Experience with MS Excel and Word required – PowerPoint experience a plus.
• Exceptional systems skills; experience with Microsoft Dynamics or Great Plains, or a large-scale ERP system is a strong plus.
• Proven ability work and lead in a fast-paced environment requiring strong multi-tasking skills, and during accompanying moments of conflict, stress and crisis, requiring an adaptative mindset.
• Superior follow up, time management and project management skills required.
