Rare ~1934 36" Louisville Slugger Bat Endorsed by "Bucketfoot" Al Simmons. Found hidden in a woodshop, this baseball bat is over 80 years old and a piece of history as the US rebounded from the Great Depression. Larger in length than a standard bat, it matches Simmons personal preference for big lumber so he could cover the outside portion of the plate and compensate for his bad habit--stepping in the "bucket".

This bat was endorsed by Aloysius Harry Simmons (May 22, 1902 - May 26, 1956). He was known as a "bucketfoot" hitter hence his nickname "Bucketfoot Al". A bucketfoot hitter strode toward third base when hitting--stepping into the "bucket". Simmons hit 307 career home runs. He compiled more hits than any right-handed batter in AL history until surpassed by Al Kaline. He was known as a deadly clutch hitter and a favorite of manager Connie Mack, Simmons won batting titles in 1930 and 1931 to help the A's to consecutive pennants.
