For sale is a collection of three different BETTY GRABLE VHS MOVIES from Key Video. These tapes of 1940s era movies would have been sold during the early 1990s. Two of the tapes are in the original FACTORY SEALED condition and each originally sold for $19.95. Take all three tapes for a total of $10. These retro Hollywood collectibles displays well because of the great cover art from each movie.
One of the movies in the factory sealed condition is the technicolor 1944 movie PINUP GIRL from Twentieth Century Fox. The plot of the movie feature the hijinks of beautiful U.S.O. singer and compulsive liar Lorry Jones (Betty Grable). She and her best friend leave Montana for war jobs in Washington, D.C. Stopping in New York City along the way, Lorry spins a web of lies, turning herself into a Broadway star to gain the company of handsome war hero Tommy Dooley (John Harvey). Jealous club singer Molly McKay (Martha Raye) suspects Lorry's claims are false and hopes to expose her. The situation worsens when Tommy ends up in Washington at Lorry's new office.
The other factory sealed movie is the 1942 movie SPRINGTIME IN THE ROCKIES whose cast included Carmen Miranda, and Jackie Gleason. The plot concerns Lovebirds Vicky Lane (Betty Grable) and Dan Christy (John Payne) who made a marvelous Broadway musical team, but Dan's offstage flirtations prompt the duo to split up. Vicky reunites with her old lover (Cesar Romero), and a regretful Dan trails them to a hotel in the Rockies.
The final movie which is not in its original sealed is the 1940 movie "DOWN ARGENTINE WAY" which also includes Carmen Miranda and Don Ameche. The plot concerns Glenda Crawford (Betty Grable) who tries to buy a horse from Argentinian Ricardo Quintana (Don Ameche). However, the sale is canceled when the latter's father objects because of a long-standing grudge against the Crawfords. Nevertheless, when Glenda visits Argentina on vacation, the pair disregard their family feud and fall madly in love amidst the lush scenery and buoyant local entertainment, which includes performances from Carmen Miranda.

Grable began her film career in 1929 at age 12, after which she was fired from a contract when it was learned she signed up under false identification. In 1940, she replaced Alice Faye in Down Argentine Way, her first major Hollywood film, and became Fox's biggest film star throughout the next decade. Her 42 films during the 1930s and 1940s grossed more than $100 million. Throughout her career, Grable was a celebrated sex symbol. Her bathing suit poster made her the number-one pin-up girl of World War II, surpassing Rita Hayworth. Grable's legs were insured by her studio for $1 million as a publicity stunt.
