Title: Center Director

The Center Director provides operational oversight to staff concerning the implementation of staff schedules, the daily curriculum and lesson plans for Great Beginnings Early Learning Center, as well as interacts with parents, the Department of Education and other community representatives. This position is a full time salaried position, which represents 40 hours straight time pay during the center hours 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., Monday - Friday.

Functions and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Designated Operations Manager.
Providing operational oversight to staff concerning the implementation of daily curriculum and lesson plans.
Review and updating of child and staff files and records.
Scheduling staff trainings, teacher conferences and parent days at the center.
Modeling and promoting respectful, professional, and solution-focused communication among staff, children, and families.

Implementing and monitoring behavioral guidance practices that emphasize teaching, redirection, and positive reinforcement in accordance with licensing standards.

Ensuring that all staff adhere to state regulations, company policies, and ethical standards related to child guidance, confidentiality, and professional conduct.

Leading by example to cultivate a warm, welcoming, and productive atmosphere that supports children’s social-emotional development and staff well-being.

Prepares and implements program operational plans and emergency evacuation and fire drills.
Review and evaluate facility activities to ensure compliance with state regulations and center standards, policies and procedures.
Review and approve staff scheduling, payroll and other operational changes.
Maintain all necessary program records and complete timely reporting required by Licensing, Health Dept., Zoning, Department of Education, CACFP and other agencies.
Arrange medical attention for an ill or injured child. Monitor program progress and making any necessary program adjustments.
Confer with teaching staff and parents regarding child's behavioral or learning challenges.
Provide creative avenues for expanding services to staff, children and families based on operational goals.
Responsible for updating and maintaining staffing schedules and backup staff schedules.
May perform classroom-teaching duties during the absence of a regular teacher.

Work closely with the Proprietors to ensure that the policies, procedures and philosophy of Great Beginnings are being followed in accordance with Virginia regulations and the Department of Education and Great Beginnings Policies.
Review of inventory and CACFP documentation.
Representative of Great Beginnings in the community and at vendor meetings and government functions.
Oversight of subsidy documentation of care and working in partnership with the City Caseworkers.
Other duties relevant to maintaining center quality, control and assurance requirements.
