Position Description:
Program Leaders/Head Teacher: Full-Time (40 hours a week):
The Program Lead will assist the Administrator and Director in creating, implementing and carrying out the daily routine including but not limited to the following activities: organizing and leading activities; engaging children in activities including reading, math, science, daily curriculum, a Christian centered activity each day, playing games, arts and crafts, songs and dance and other activities designed for them to meet and exceed developmental and educational milestones. The Head Teacher oversees recreational play, character building, meal and rest time assistance; outdoor/indoor play oversight; assistance with language acquisition and development and other activities designed to stimulate the on-going learning of children. Program Leaders will meet with parents and provide daily logs of childrens development and activities as well as other duties within the classroom and Great Beginnings Early Learning Center. This position is a full time salaried position, which represents 40 hours straight time pay during center hours 7:00 a.m. 6:00 p.m. Monday Friday.
The Program Leader position requires creativity, patience, compassion, kindness, an ability to give and follow directives, and a strong desire to impact the growth and development of children and their assigned program assistants.
Functions and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Implementation of daily curriculum and lesson plans.
Assisting children with daily routine, meal and rest time, outdoor and indoor recreational play
Following all Great Beginnings policies and procedures.
Attending staff trainings, teacher conferences and parent days at the center.
Implementation of program operational plans and emergency evacuation and fire drills.
Compliance with state regulations and center standards, polices and procedures.
Creativity in daily routine implementation.
Confer with other teaching staff, Director and Administrator regarding childs behavioral or learning problems.
Provide creative avenues for expanding services to staff, children and families
Responsible for meeting with teachers, children, families, aids.
Maintaining timely attendance and reliability.
Ensure that the policies, procedures and philosophy of Great Beginnings are being followed in accordance with Virginia regulations and the Department of Social Services and Great Beginnings Policies.
Working within a team setting with co-workers, children and families.
Maintaining a positive attitude; fiscal responsibility, professionalism in speech, action and dress.
Role Modeling to children, staff, parents and families associated with Great Beginnings.
