For sale is a classic Pioneer SX-800 tube receiver—one of Pioneer’s early all-tube designs, known for its warm, rich sound and vintage character. Estimated production late 1965 to early 1966.

Condition & Performance:
All controls have been cleaned with DeoxIT, and work smoothly with no static. All original construction. Case is solid with only a few signs of its age. The power knob has a dent that isn’t visible from the front.

It has been fitted with new Mullard 7189A output tubes. The result is a smooth, detailed, and musical presentation with classic tube warmth. It is heavy, with substantial power and output transformers. This receiver sold for $450 when new, that was a lot of money then, almost 1/3 the cost of a new Volkswagen Beetle.
