***Rare Item***Large beautiful vintage porcelain chinoiserie hand painted tobacco leaf design fishbowl planter with a rich color palette featuring shades of blue, green, tan burgundy/mauve floral and tobacco leaf design on a white background with gold accents on the dark blue leaves and also near the top rim and near bottom of the vase. 4 koi fishes with seaweeds painted inside the basin. Made in China circa 1980.
Tobacco Leaf porcelains are one of the most easily recognized china patterns out there. The distinctive multi-colored leaves and the bold pink flower instantly catches your eye. For centuries it has been a coveted porcelain design, and, thus, is both rare and expensive. Tobacco Leaf design planters are rare.
Traditional Use:
These bowls were historically used in China to house live fish, particularly koi or goldfish.
