This beautiful vase is hand carved and intricately made. It has a brass liner and is in good condition. There is a minor chip on the base ( see last picture with grey arrow) but no serious damage noted. The lacquer is in great condition.

A note about cinnabar: Technically, cinnabar is mercury sulfide. In China, during the Song Dynasty, the risk of poisoning from the compound was minimized by lacquering over the cinnabar carving. A lot of cinnabar today is replaced by a resin-based polymer or carved wood covered in layers or resin, making it totally harmless. This is not been tested for cinnabar
