Attractive scene of a bride preparing for her marriage ceremony. She wears a white outer kimono with flowing sleeves over a matching white robe and red under robe, tied with a black obi and narrow red cord. She smiles happily as she looks over her shoulder, the young girl behind her trimming the wick of a burning candle. At right, an older girl holds a lacquer tray with combs arranged on top, sitting next to a beauty in a black kimono. The low table behind them holds an auspicious arrangement of pine, blossoming plum, and bamboo leaves along with lucky cranes and a turtle with moss growing from its shell, symbolizing longevity. At right, bolts of red and white silk are piled on a tray. A lovely design, detailed with extensive embossing on the white kimono and burnishing on the hair, the black kimono, and the black obi. The Edo Tokyo Museum identifies this print as by Chikanobu. It is signed "Yoshu."
